IPAT  U.S. CONVENTION EXHIBIT RULES

Exhibit rules for Regional Conventions outside the U.S. may vary. The Regional Chairmen for each country can send you  the exhibit rules for their conventions. Some of the Rules governing entering your art work(s) into IPAT Exhibits are also Rules governing IPAT Competition.

YOU MUST BE A CURRENT MEMBER TO ENTER YOUR ARTWORK IN AN IPAT EXHIBIT.  Please bring your current IPAT Membership Card with you so your entry can be accepted without waiting in long lines. If you do not have your membership card with you, the committee will ask that you wait until your membership number can be looked up and confirmed.

PLEASE SEND YOUR COMPLETED PRE-REGISTRATION EXHIBITION FORM TO THE EXHIBIT CHAIRMAN FOR THE REGIONAL OR BIENNIAL CONVENTION EXHIBIT YOU WISH TO ENTER. If your completed form is sent to the wrong Regional Exhibit Chairman, you will need to register again when you present your artwork to the exhibit committee. CLICK HERE to read or print a Pre-Registration Exhibit Form.

PERMISSION TO PHOTOGRAPH YOUR ART WORK(S).
If your piece has been previously photographed and or published, indicate this on the Exhibit Form.

If a Professional Photographer has been hired for the convention exhibit artists submitting works into the Exhibit must:
1. Indicate your permission for your piece to be photographed if it is selected by the IPAT Magazine committee.
2. Indicate if your piece has already been photographed and or submitted to another publication for possible publication.

A magazine committee selects pieces to be photographed. The IPAT photographer does not select pieces to photograph.

NUMBER OF PIECES AN IPAT MEMBER CAN PLACE IN THE EXHIBIT:
-
Each U.S. Regional Convention determines the number of pieces a member may place in exhibit.
- The IPAT President determines the number of pieces a member may exhibit in the Biennial Art Exhibit. The number of pieces is determined by the amount of space available in the convention hotel.

ART SHOULD BE ORIGINAL.
-
No seminar work, no class work, no decals. Class or seminar works may be entered in the section listed below.
- If your work was influenced by that of another artist, full credit must be given to that artist.

NO MOLDED FIGURES OF HUMAN OR ANIMAL FORM ACCEPTED IN ANY OF THE EXHIBITS. (i.e., no figurines).

NO PAINTED GLASS PIECES AND NO PORCELAIN DOLLS ACCEPTED.

YOUR NAME MUST BE ON ANY PLATE STAND, OR SUPPORT USED FOR YOUR PIECE OF ART.

ENTERED ART WORK MUST HAVE BEEN PAINTED WITHIN THE LAST TWO YEARS.

PICK UP OF ART AT CLOSE OF CONVENTION: No piece will be removed from the Exhibit until the official closing of the Exhibit without prior written arrangements via the Regional Exhibit Chairman or Biennial Exhibit Chairman.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE PRESENT TO EXHIBIT YOUR WORK. Your entries, with proper identification and entry form, may be delivered and picked up by a friend.

FRAMED PIECES SHOULD BE PROPERLY FRAMED AND READY TO BE HUNG. Photography may require art removed from frame.

PLEASE, DO NOT REARRANGE OR CHANGE THE PLACEMENT OF YOUR PIECE IN THE EXHIBIT. The Exhibit Committee is responsible for placing each piece in the exhibit along with a name card. If the wrong name card is placed next to a piece, it will be photographed with the piece and will be credited to the wrong artist.

The IPAT Regional and Biennial Exhibit will have several sections (as noted below) within the exhibit room. We hope this will give more members an opportunity to exhibit their work.

1. Student's Exhibit (pieces cannot be entered in competition). This section will give students an opportunity to exhibit pieces painted from another artists study or painted under the direction of a teacher or in a school or seminar. Exhibiting artists must give credit to teachers, schools or seminar teachers.

2. Experimental (pieces cannot be entered in competition). This section will allow members to exhibit pieces done in unusual techniques which are not allowed in the regular exhibit or IPAT Competitions. Ideal for pieces with anything which is adhered to the porcelain AFTER FIRING.

3. Youth Exhibit. In keeping with the IPAT goal to educate and promote interest among young upcoming artists, a section will be provided where Youth Members under the age of 18 (or still in high school) may exhibit their porcelain paintings. Exhibiting artists must give credit to teachers, schools or seminar teachers.

4. IPAT Portrait Society Exhibit (Click HERE to read the IPAT Portrait Society Procedures).
